First Client! :)

One of my goals is to create a business that I can run from my home. It gives me a reason to do all of this which I love. I'm still learning things, and I don't really do that much, but I will forever be grateful to my favorite professor. Before he had even seen any of my cakes, he asked me if I would do one for him. It quite literally made my day. He has asked for a chocolate cake with coconut pecan frosting. I have great plans for this cake.

This cake is for Valentine's day, so the first criteria I have it that it much be heart shaped. I have the pans and I'm so excited. It will be two tiered with about a 9 in bottom layer and a 6 in top layer. It will then be covered and filled with the coconut pecan frosting. Around the sides will be cake crumbs creating a nice colored look. On the top will be a chocolate drizzle. Outlining the edges will be dipped whole pecans. I'm so excited. Pictures will definitely be up.

Past Fun

This is my first attempt at a ganache cake. It is a marble chocolate vanilla cake, with a milk chocolate ganache frosting.

This is my first attempt at a fondant triple layer cake. It is a homemade pound cake with lemon, raspberry, and blueberry fillings. It has butter-cream frosting and fondant on top. The flowers and ribbon are cloth and not gum paste. That is one of my next projects. :)

This is my first ever attempt at using fondant! It was for BYU's homecoming. I outlined and filled the Y's with butter-cream frosting. It is a basic yellow cake with strawberry filling.

This was made for a talent show. A friend of mine from Norway came to me with some marzipan from home and asked me to do something cool with it. This is what I came up with. It is a whimsical cake with multi-colors and shapes. It is a french vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling. Not only was this my first try with marzipan (which, by the way, is amazingly easy to work with and sooooo much tastier than fondant.) it was my first attempt at mold-able chocolate. This has a very very dark version under the marzipan and it creates the very sharp edges.

This cake is one of my favorites. It was made for a kindergarten party that my friends had thrown. My project for this was to use rice crispy treats. The crayons are made of them and then covered with fondant. The cakes are either white or chocolate. The decorative frosting was butter-cream dyed. :)

All About What I Do

Hi everyone!

Just a quick note to get this started. My name is Kelda and I have a little project in mind. I love to decorate cakes, bake, and invent recipes. I wanted to create a place where I could combine pictures and recipes for everyone to see. If anyone has any suggestions let me know! Thanks!
